WRESTLING ACCORDING TO THE MOVIES
Volume 2 - "Casablanca"

Quote No. 1
Ugarte: Oh, n-n-n-nothing, but when you first came to Casablanca, I thought--
Rick Blaine: You thought what?
Ugarte: Hm, what right do I have to think, huh?

This seems to be the general attitude of the resident lurkers over at the ez-board. Remember that opinions differ and you're all wrong. Also remember that all generalizations are false, including this one.

Quote No. 2
Ugarte: You know, Rick, I have many a friend in Casablanca, but somehow, just because you despise me, you are the only one I trust.

I think this is how we're supposed to feel about the on-again-off-again relationship between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon. Stone Cold and Vince have always despised each other, even when they were on the same side. But somehow, it seems like old Vince always has Stone Cold in his corner at the end.

Quote No. 3
Berger: We read five times that you were killed, in five different places.
Victor Laszlo: As you can see, it was true every single time.

This is meant to be a shout-out to my boy LMO. See, the zombie factor goes back at least as far as the early 1900's. Does being killed five times make you an even stiffer zombie than if you are only killed once? Either way, I'm still pulling for the All-Zombie Halloween PPV.

Quote No. 4
Captain Louis Renault: In 1935, you ran guns to Ethiopia. In 1936, you fought in Spain, on the Loyalist side.
Rick Blaine: I got well paid for it on both occasions.
Captain Louis Renault: The winning side would have paid you much better.

Stone Cold is the current Rick Blaine...he's running guns on the wrong side of the battle lines right now. However, my guess is Stone Cold (or Cold Steel as we know him around here) will listen to the good Captain's advice. SCSA swerve at Survivor Series.

Quote No. 5
Senor Ferrari: As the leader of all illegal activities in Casablanca, I am an influential and respected man.

Senor Ferrari, the local controller of all things evil, was not as influential or respected as he thought he was. Neither is the WWF's version of Senor Ferrari, Shane-O-Mac.

Quote No. 6
Rick Blaine: Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I think these are the same words that Chuck Palumbo muttered into Billy Gunn's ear as they formed the Ass-Chuck's. Or is it Palumbass? Check out "New Tag Teams" on the ez-board for more good ass jokes.

Quote No. 7
Yvonne: Where were you last night?
Rick Blaine: That's so long ago, I don't remember.
Yvonne: Will I see you tonight?
Rick Blaine: I never make plans that far ahead.

I think this is what Eddy Guerrerro told his girl friend on the phone after his run in with the fence this weekend. Poor Eddy shouldn't be making plans for the future...unless they include a stint in Hogan's not-ready-for-prime-time fed.

Quote No. 8
Victor Laszlo: Welcome back to the fight. This time I know our side will win.

I don't know why but this just strikes me as something Test would say. I'm one of the people who really doesn't understand his push at all. His in-ring work is OK. His finishing move is boring (and it's already taken). And his mic skills SUCK. Read the above quote and then imagine Test looking at Booker T with all that faux emotion in his eyes....ugh.

Quote No. 9
Captain Louis Renault: Major Strasser has been shot. Round up the usual suspects.

Heh. Heh. Someone is going to defect. Let's have a meeting....is it Tommy Dreamer?? Is it Justin Credible?? Is it Chuck Palumbo?? (pssst, Shane, he's not in the Alliance anymore) Is it that guy in the back who hasn't been on TV for so long that no one know his name???

Obligatory Most Famous Quote No. 10
Rick Blaine: Here's looking at you, kid.

What he meant to say was, "Here's looking at you, Kidman." I think it was in reference to the fact that Kidman is shagging old what's her name that used to be on TV feuding with Stacy but now isn't.

That's it for this week's Wrestling According to the Movies. Maybe I'll post another movie next week. Feel free to drop me a line or give me a shout-out over at the ez-board.
