One Year Ago on RAW: Highlights of Vince McMahon receiving the Michael Landon award for charity work lead off the show. The Bushwhackers defeat Damien DeMento & Repo Man, and Repo promptly disappears forever. Tatanka wins, which is no surprise, because he's UNDEFEATED. Money, Inc. wins a squash, and Doink defeats Kamala when the crafty clown outthinks the Ugandan with the help of an empty "present" box. Also this week, Andre the Giant *is* the WWF Hall of Fame. WWF Monday Night RAW, coming to you from the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY 28.3.94 (but taped 21.3) and broadcast on the USA Network. Your hosts are Vincent K. McMahon and James E. Cornette, who provide all commentary. I admit it. I missed the first 15 minutes of the show. Having done that, this is probably the week they decided to change the opening montage. Anyway, all I really missed is practically all of The Narcissist v. The Model - Cornette blathers on and on about Piper's poor officiating job, and McMahon blathers on and on about Perfect's poor officiating job. After being dominated most of the match, Luger wins with the Rack. WMX encore ad. If you're reading this now, you've already missed it. Shot of the Rocket lifting weights and grunting. Yeah, if I were just about to wrestle a big match, I'd want to make sure I was really TIRED first. Hype for next week's big match - the ten man tag from WrestleMania! Owen Hart v. Mike Freeman - Another thing I obviously missed, Ted DiBiase has bought the three seats behind the commentators' table. He's counting money and generally distracting us from the match. Owen does lots of neat moves as this match goes on and on....Sharpshooter submission (by Freeman). DiBiase has some big surprises coming up, yeah. Rerun of Burt Reynolds' "I'm on painkillers" post-WM interview. Doink v. Eric Cody - Doink squirts DiBiase, what a rebel. Promos: ICOPRO (Ramon), "New" Jurassic Park Action Figures, SF2:SCE carts Look, Dink cheats. Nuff said. Oh wait, another tidbit: Doink's cannonball finisher is now "The Whoopie Cushion." Ack. WMX encore ad. Geez, do they really think people will buy it if they tell you how ALL of the matches end beforehand? Cornette interviews Johnny Polo and Les Quebecois. It only takes about five seconds before Cap'n Lou makes his way to the ring. Jacques calls him "Captain Crunch," which is the highlight of my evening. Out goes Albano, back comes Albano with...the Head Shrinkers. Polo throws a fit while Afa just looks goofy. After Jacques and Lou have an enlightened debate about whether or not there will be a tag team Title match coming up, we take an ad break, having resolved nothing. Hype for next week's SECOND big match: Earthquake vs. Adam Bomb II...I guess Sweeps month is coming up. The Black Phantom v. The 1-2-3 Kid - Don't ask me why, but I expected just a little bit more offense from the Phantom. WWF Greetings on Call ad. Crush v. Ray Hudson - Hey, look, Nikolai Volkoff. Whoopee. Promos: NBA Jam carts, GI Joe Battle Corps, T2 carts While Vince quotes Hart quoting the Rolling Stones, Crush does a Kwang impersonation on Hudson. Next week: Ten man, Quake/Bomb, and also Ramon and Yokozuna in action. How can they pack all this action into one hour?!? Is it sweeps month yet? Highlights of the show we just saw. I'll be better next week, I promise. I really have to dress it up during sweeps month or else I don't get the ratings that pull in the big advertising dollars.
