Marty Jannetty wins a 2 out of 3 falls match after Doink #2 is caught interfering in the third fall (Doink #1 does get to use a figure four, however). Mr. Hughes wins a squash, and the Kid manages to run off with Razor Ramon's $10,000 before he can figure out what's going on. The highly touted rematch ends in a double countout. WWF Monday Night RAW, coming to you "live" from the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY 20.6.94 and broadcast on the USA Network. Stills from last night's King of the Ring tourney show that although Diesel won his match with Bret Hart, he won by DQ, meaning that Hart is still WWF Champion. Owen Hart, winner of the tournament, has declared himself the King of Harts. Jim Neidhart, Bret's (and Owen's) brother-in-law is featured prominently in several stills. Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Randy Savage, who provide all commentary. They are joined this week by Spanish announcers Ed Trucco and Carlos Cabrerra (ok, I guessed at the spellings). Did USA go to the second audio program for their commentary? What's the deal? More on this later, if need be. Diesel v. Mark Thomas - No, it ain't that Mark Thomas. Various possible feuds to come out of KotR include the triangle of Bret, Owen (and Neidhart), and Diesel (and Michaels). For good measure, Razor Ramon is mentioned, as Neidhart cost Ramon a victory in the KotR final. I guess they haven't booked it yet. Jackknife for Thomas, good night. Todd Pettengill with *your* KotRR. More stills show that Owen won the tourney with the Anvil's help, after the Anvil interfered in Bret's title match, disqualifying Bret but saving the title, and apparently allowing Owen the chance to win the title from his brother at some later time. Once again, we learn that Owen is now the King of Harts. In the tag team championship match, Lex Luger helped the champion Head Shrinkers to keep their belts, and finally, Piper beat Lawler with the help of the faux Piper. Hey, now that you know those results, why not drop $24.95 on the encore? The 123 Kid v. Virgil II with the winner to get a shot at the WWF Title - Said title shot, against Bret Hart (presumably) would take place at the (live) 11 July RAW. After the Kid's entrance, we take an ad break. The storyline is that Ted DiBiase bought this shot for Nikolai Volkoff, figuring it would be easy to defeat a tired Kid with a fresh Volkoff, and in the process collecting all the money that a title winner would earn. OK, I'll buy that, except the Kid shows NO signs of the bumps and bruises of his two KotR matches. Anyway, Nikolai won't shake the hand. Lockup, and Volkoff powers out. Repeat. Whip into the ropes, missed clothesline, and a high cross body by the Kid for 2. Nikolai with all sorts of power moves, followed by some devious moves (golly, DiBiase is making him *aggressive*!) Bearhug by Volkoff, the Kid reverses it into a sunset flip for 2. They trade blows and the Kid gets the upper hand, following it up with martial arts kicks. Volkoff manages to kick out after all this, though. Suplex by Volkoff for 2. Suplex reversed into sunset flip for 2, by the Kid. Chop to the throat (ooo, devious) by Volkoff. The Kid kicks back. Roundhouse kick for 2. Volkoff goes back to the power moves, and it works. Although he could pin the Kid, he pulls up his head at 2, raising the ire of referee "Blind" Joey Morella. After a whip into the corner, the Kid lands on his knee wrong and has a Savage limp. After the Kid crumples to the canvas, Volkoff smiles to his boss. Of course, he's only playing possum, as he wraps up Volkoff in a small package while Nikolai poses. The knee was never hurt, and man that Kid is smart. The Kid is a big part of the New Generation, you know. Furious that his title shot is gone, Volkoff jumps the Kid, DiBiase directing traffic. Who should run in and make the save, but Virgil! The original Virgil! Virgilmania's running wild! After taking out Volkoff, he makes that "I'm gonna hit DiBiase after all these years" look" towards the Multimillion Dollar Man. Now, you and I both know that DiBiase is not taking any shots until the insurance runs out, so we know that Nikolai is coming to *that* fast and takes out Virgil. The Kid is still laying like a slug, so call out Lex Luger. As soon as DiBiase sees Luger, he takes Volkoff out, giving Luger a thumbs up in the process. Keep this in mind... Next week's big match is Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Mabel. I guess this means I don't have to go to that house show after all. Yokozuna v. Nick Barberie - Promos: ICOPRO (Narcissist), Nerf JArts, SF2: SCE Sega carts Maybe Yokozuna should take on Hart, too. Geez, aren't there enough possible feuds floating around? Let's start one more. Having completely written the Earthquake out of the script (Yokozuna eliminated him, says the story), who should be back from the dead but Uncle Fred, the Shockmaster, yes, friends, Typhoon, he's back, and he's ready to take on the big man in his fellow Natural Disaster's place. Yokozuna wins with a leg drop o' doom. Lord Alfred Hayes narrates over some more stills...oh wait, this is an ad for the encore. OK. That encore is Tuesday, 28 June at 8pm. Typhoon v. Black Phantom - Time to reestablish Typhoon...and since Yokozuna hasn't quite left the aisle yet, we shouldn't have much problem. Let's take an ad break. When we come back, we go to replay of "moments ago," where we see Typhoon deck Yokozuna, who wouldn't get out of the way. Monsoon mentions that Vince McMahon is recovering quite nicely from his neck surgery and will be back real soon now (11 July, I'm guessing). Anyway, Typhoon hits the big splash for the pin, hooray, I'm missing that big splash. The King's Court with Duke Droese - First we get a diatribe about Piper and faux Piper from the King. Lawler is wearing shades, but we never find out why. Let us take you back to WWF Superstars, where in his debut the Dumpster dumps a can of garbage on Lawler. Leaving a mic outside the ring for Duke (he smells too bad for Lawler--Droese replies with "That's ok, you smell too bad for me..." OOOOOOO), Lawler proceeds to talk nonstop for hours. Don't get me wrong, he's funny. Every time the Dumpster starts to talk, Lawler interrupts him. Finally, Duke gets tired and leaves. Angered, Lawler goes after him and takes him out with an axehandle. He proceeds to thrash Droese about with his own garbage can. The Heavenly Bodies v. Russ Greenberg & Jim Powers - This is the highlight of my life, Powers is back. Cornette joins the commentators at ringside and promises that this team are the next holders of the tag team belts (the Bodies, yes). In his triumphant return, Powers manhandles both Bodies, but tags out, and Greenberg gets pinned after a poor excuse for a moonsault by del Ray. Promos: Spiderman & The X-Men cartridges, Super Soaker XP 150, World Class Soccer cartridges Jack Tunney just called during the break. Foreign objects are only meant to be used for their foreign purposes, and his pledge to the audience is that we will NEVER see another attack like that again. Feel the WCW comparisons from r.s.p-w! See the mutants stop watching the WWF! See the parents of the eight-year-olds continue to let their children watch Monday Night RAW! First SummerSlam ad...it's 29 August in Chicago. Ted DiBiase, from the locker room, says that Lex Luger would make a fine addition to his stable. He just needs a little guidance... See you next week! -- / Christopher Robin Zimmerman / kzim@koko.csustan.edu / zimmerma@corsa.ucr.edu /
